Principal's Message

Dear MHE Parents and Families,

Welcome back the start of a new school year.  Mokelumne Hill Elementary is a great school.  Our students receive individual attention as we strive to educate the whole child.  Our students grow academically, but we also focus upon their social and emotional growth.  The parents here are involved with the school and we consider education to be a partnership between the school and the home.  In fact, the parent-teacher organization is appropriately called, Partners In Education.  I look forward to working with you and your precious children for this new school year.  MHE’s dedicated staff is committed to Calaveras Unified School District’s mission, “Making every moment count for every student every day.” This is an exciting time in education as we continue implementing the Common Core Standards.

Students will be learning their subjects with more in depth knowledge and problem solving strategies.  Common Core was created to help students prepare for the 21st century.  We, at MHE, hope our students will become life-long learners and enjoy their educational experience at our little community school.  Our mascot is a Gopher, which may sound silly, but they are everywhere in town and specifically in our school field.  We like to say, “Go-pher” it when anyone at school is trying hard to accomplish something important, which happens every day.  If I can be of assistance to you, please don’t hesitate to contact me.  My door is always open!  I hope that this is a productive and positive year for the entire MHE school family.

Sincerely,

Ms. Michelle Besmer
